Efficient Conveying of Water Glass with BLUEline Nova Rotary Lobe Pumps
A leading manufacturer of moldings for cupola and shaft furnaces relies on the robust BLUEline Nova rotary lobe pumps to handle the complex task of conveying water glass within its production facility. Water glass is an essential component in the production process, serving as a binder for pulverized coal used in a new type of briquette.
In this setup, the first pump draws the water glass from a storage tank and transfers it into an intermediate container, ensuring a continuous flow of material. A second pump then delivers the water glass from the intermediate container to the mixer through specially designed nozzles.
Given the fast-hardening nature of water glass upon exposure to air, this process places significant demands on the pump's mechanical seal. To prevent rapid solidification and ensure seamless operation, the pumps are constructed from stainless steel and fitted with double-acting mechanical seals. These seals are further safeguarded by a barrier pressure supply system, which maintains the necessary pressure to keep the seals functioning efficiently and prolong their lifespan.
With these advanced features, the BLUEline Nova pumps provide the reliability and precision needed for such a challenging production environment.
