Mobile ATEX-Compliant Pump for Efficient Tank Stripping at Tank Terminals
This mobile pump is used at a tank terminal for tank stripping of storage tanks for oils and fuels. For this application, the pump is ATEX-compliant.
A forklift truck transports the pumps as close as possible to the respective storage tank. The pump speed and thus the flow rate are adapted to the remaining fill level in the tank and the liquid to be pumped. A frequency converter is integrated into the control technology.
The pump is driven by a 37 kW electric motor. Depending on the location on the tank terminal site, 62 A or 125 A power connections are available. The pump is designed so that it can be driven by either current.
ATEX-compliant control technology would have been very expensive. The customer opted for a different solution. The control cabinet is installed on castors so that it can be moved out of the ATEX zone. The connection to the pump is established via a cable. This means that the control technology does not have to be ATEX-compliant.
The pump is resistant to solids, can run dry for a short time and is able to pump in slurp operation. A Variocap protects it from overpressure. Various temperature, pressure and dry-run sensors ensure the necessary safety in the ATEX zone.
